My kinesthetic investigations unearth from the deepest roots of my curiosities. I utilize performance and the live body as vehicles to interrogate materials, deskill disciplines and repurpose simple technologies in order to conceive peculiar situation. I re/source parameters, restrictions, and boundaries, both physical and invisible, within the political or social circumstances in which my work unfolds. These creative tendencies often leave behind evidence of what once occurred, by means of relics, residue, or the afterimage.
The basis of my methodical mis/translations across photo, video, installation, mark-making and other mediums, is informed by my early involvement in music, martial arts, dance, and choreography. I transform microphones, amplifiers, clothing, smart phones, video projectors, flash cameras, toy gadgets/devices, and other found objects, into tools for complicating a mediation between form and function. My creative trajectories often form constellations of citations, staking conceptual anchors within Contemporary Art canons, tropes, and inherited narratives. This landscape becomes a site of excavation to dissect the crevasses between the individual and relational, cognitive and intuitive, virtual and biomechanical.
Through the intersection of gesture, endurance, and chance operations, I find opportunities to test my corporeal capacities. These experiments aim to pursue modes of materializing an examination of my own subjectivity as a gender non-binary queer person of color. Each and every endeavor a failed attempt at digging myself out of an infinite pit of wonders and questions.
