performed at The FRONT Arte Cultura in San Ysidro, CA for the opening reception of Dreams, Daydreaming & Dreamers curated by Francisco Eme. Performance duration approximately 2 hours.
Starting in a designated performance area, then throughout the gallery, I write the words “STOLEN” and “ROBADA” on the floor with white chalk as I crawl around on my fists (full of chalk) and knees, following the footsteps of the spectators. This action guides the eye to the ground to remind pedestrian they tread on stolen land which belongs to no one. It also speaks to mortality and how much bigger the world is than us, or any concepts of ownership we may have. It points to where we too one day will end up, the ground; a trace on a surface.
